This is our church's Statement of Faith, or the beliefs and doctrine that we stand upon in accordance to what we believe is taught in the Holy Bible. We have been enlightened and very blessed through many streams of Christian truth, and we do not seek to divide ourselves from other members of the Body of Christ.

For those who may be considering becoming a member of our church, we feel that it is important to know the fundamental truths in which we stand upon and seek to live by.

On the Scriptures

We believe that the Bible is the authoritative and infallible Word of God, which was written by men who were divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit. We believe that it is the supreme standard by which all believers should live in order to grow toward Christ-likeness, and that it is the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.
(Proverbs 30:5-6; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

On the true God

We believe that there is only one true and living God, who is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, eternally existent in three distinctive persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
(Exodus 15:11; Jeremiah 10:10; Matthew 28:19; John 4:24, 10:30, 15:26; Romans 1:20)

On our Saviour

We believe in the deity of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, His miracles, that He is the only begotten Son of God, that He was born of a virgin, that He lived a sinless life, that through His death He made a full atonement for our sins, His bodily resurrection from the grave, and His ascension to the right hand of the Father.
(Isaiah 53:5-6; Matthew 1:18-25, 20:28, 28:1-20; Mark 16:1-20; Luke 24:1-53; John 1:1-14, 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:14; Philippians 2:5-11)

On the fall of Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God, in holiness and under the law of his Maker, that he was tempted by Satan, and through his own voluntary transgression, fell from that holy and happy state. In consequence, all men following Adam have sinned and are sinful, not by constraint, but by choice, being by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, and therefore under just condemnation to eternal ruin, without defence or excuse.
(Genesis 1:27, 1:31, 2:16, 3:1-24; Ecclesiastes 7:29; Isaiah 53:6; Ezekiel 18:19-20; John 3:6; Romans 1:20, 3:9-19, 5:19;)

On the way of Salvation

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly from the grace of God, received through faith in Jesus Christ, who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon Himself our nature, yet Himself being without sin, honoring the divine law by His personal obedience, and by His death made a full atonement for our sins. Having risen from the dead, Jesus is now enthroned in Heaven, and He is in every way a suitable, a compassionate, and an all-sufficient Saviour.
(Isaiah 42:21, 53:4-5; Ephesians 2:5; Matthew 18:11; John 4:10; Romans 4:25; Philippians 2:6-11; Hebrews 1:8, 2:9, 7:25)

On the freeness of Salvation

We believe that the blessings of salvation are made free to ALL by the gospel, and that it is the immediate duty of all to accept them by sincere repentance of sins and obedient faith. Nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on Earth, but his own inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of the gospel, at which involves him in an aggravated state of condemnation. Every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Proverbs 1:24; Isaiah 55:1; Matthew 11:20; Mark 1:15; John 3:19, 5:40, 10:27-29; Romans 1:15-17, 16:26; Ephesians 1:13-14; Hebrews 7:25, 10:10,14; Revelations 22:17)

On being Born Again

We believe that in order to be saved, sinners must be regenerated or born again, which consists of giving a holy disposition to the mind, that it is effected in a manner above our comprehension by the power of the Holy Spirit. A newness of life occurs in connection with revelation of divine truth, so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the gospel, which is in turn evident through the holy fruits of repentance and faith.
(Deuteronomy 30:6; Ezekiel 36:26-27; John 3:3, 3:6-8; 2 Corinthians 5:17; James 1:16-18; 1 Peter 1:22-25)

On Sanctification

We believe that Sanctification is the process by which, according to the will of God, we are made partakers of His holiness, that it is a progressive work which begins with being born again, and that it is carried on in the hearts of believers by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, the Sealer and Comforter. There is a continual use of the appointed means, especially the Word of God, self-examination, self-denial, watchfulness, and prayer.
(1 Thessalonians 4:3, 5:23; Proverbs 4:18; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 1 John 2:29; Romans 8:5; Philippians 2:12-13; 1 Peter 2:2)

On God's purpose of Grace

We believe that election is the eternal purpose of God, according to which He graciously regenerates, sanctifies, and saves sinners. Being perfectly consistent with the free agency of man, it comprehends all the means in connection with the end. God's grace is a most glorious display of His sovereign goodness, being infinitely free, wise, holy, and unchangeable. It utterly excludes boasting, and promotes humility, love, prayer, praise, trust in God, and active imitation of His free mercy. It encourages use of means that it may be ascertained by it's effects in all who truly believe the gospel. It is the foundation of Christian assurance, and to ascertain it with regard to ourselves demands and deserves the utmost diligence.
(1 Thessalonians 4:3, 5:23; Proverbs 4:18; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 1 John 2:29; Romans 8:5; Philippians 2:12-13; 1 Peter 2:2; Ephesians 4:7)

On a Gospel Church

We believe that a visible church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers, who are associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, who observe the ordinances of Christ and are governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His word. It's only scriptural officers are bishops or pastors and deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are defined in the Epistles to Timothy and Titus.
(1 Corinthians 1:1-13, 4:17, 5:12-13, 11:2, 14:12; Matthew 18:17, 28:20; Acts 2:41-42, 2:47, 14:23, 15:22; Philippians 1:1, 1:27; 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1)

On Baptism and the Lord's Supper

We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, into the name of the Father, and Son, and Holy Ghost. It is a solemn and beatiful emblem to show forth an inward change, reflecting our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Saviour Jesus Christ, with it's effect, in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life. Baptism is a prerequisite to the privileges of a church relation, and to the Lord's Supper, in which the members of the church by the sacred use of bread and wine, are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ, preceded always by solemn self-examination.
(Acts 8:36-39; Matthew 3:5-6, 26:26-29, 28:19; Mark 16:16, 14:22-25; Luke 22:14-20; John 3:22-23, 4:1-2, 6:26-71; Acts 2:38, 2:41-42; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 11:24-26, 11:28)

On Civil Government

We believe that civil government is of divine appointment, for the interests and good order of human society, and that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored, and obeyed; except only in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only Lord of the conscience, and the Prince of the kings of the Earth.
(Romans 13:1-7, 14:9-13; Deuteronomy 16:18; 2 Samuel 23:3; Exodus 18:23; Jeremiah 30:21; Matthew 22:21, 23:10; Titus 3:1; 1 Peter 2:13; Daniel 3:15-18, 6:7-10; Acts 4:18-20; Psalms 2:1-12, 72:11)

On the World to come

We believe that those persons who die without faith in Jesus Christ spend eternity in Hell, and those persons who die with their sins forgiven, through faith in Christ, spend eternity in Heaven. We believe that the end of this world is approaching, that at the Last Day Christ will descend from heaven, and raise the dead from the grave to final retribution. A solemn seperation will then take place, the wicked will be adjudged to endless punishment, and the righteous to endless joy. This judgement will fix forever the final state of men in heaven or hell, on principles of righteousness.
(1 Peter 4:7; 2 Peter 3:11-12; 1 Corinthians 7:29-31, 15:12-59; Matthew 13:37-43, 13:49, 24:30-31, 24:35, 25:35-41, 28:20; John 3:16-21; Acts 1:11, 3:21, 24:15; Daniel 12:2; 2 Thessalonians 1:6-12; Romans 2:2-16; Revelations 20:14-15)
